Terrain View

This is a Google® Terrain (topo) view of a discrete asset (a road).   Automatic Google® lookups are enabled when you name a road or street or provide the latitude and longitude of an asset (bridge, building, culvert, sign, etc.).

Creating work site GIS in Google Maps®

You may also create a GIS map (mapview, satellite or terrain view and mark sites (road locations, etc.) with a 'PlaceMark' and describe the work that is to be done at each site (gravel, cold mix to be used, specific sites that need grader work, culvert cleanout, etc.).

This is done in conjunction with Google Maps®, its 'Create Map Function' and using the map features, drawing tools and/or PlaceMarks.

First, select a road/street with the Roads or Fixed Assets button (or type name in Quickest Menu and press enter.   After selection click on GIS TAB and Google® button.   This will find (roughly) the midpoint of selected road/street - you may also enter the latitude and longitude in the Search Maps field an click on Search Maps button if you have the latitude and longitude from GPS, etc.

Next, select Create New Map option which starts an OptionUntitled map and populates the tools in upper left of map viewing area.   Select the Add Placemark and left-click on map where the first work site is located.   Populate the popup window with information about the worksite.   Click on the Add Placemark icon if you have other work sites you want on this map.

When complete for this work session, click the DONE button (and SAVE if you want to save a record of this work-site map).   Then click print (mid-upper right of screen).

If you generate another/different worksite map be sure to Delete the one that is resident by clicking the small x on to the right Untitled checkbox on left-center of screen.
